We start with users and processes: who logs in, what they want to do and which information they need.
Salesforce Experience Cloud
Customer data and processes may already be in Salesforce. The problem begins when they need to be made conveniently available to a customer, partner or loyalty programme participant.
That user does not want to see the structure of the CRM. They want to download a document, check a status, view transaction history, manage their profile or use points.
We design and develop Salesforce Experience Cloud portals as digital products - from discovery and UX/UI through a custom theme and LWC to integrations, testing, UAT and ongoing maintenance.
We also modernize existing portals.
A free 30–60 minute call. We will learn about the user groups, processes and systems the portal should work with. We will provide an initial assessment of whether Experience Cloud fits the project and what requires further discovery.
Portal
A customer portal should not look like Salesforce
CRM is designed primarily for a company's employees.
A portal has completely different users, goals and ways of being used.
A customer should not have to wonder which Salesforce object a piece of information comes from. They should know where to find a document, status or history and how to carry out the action they need.
That is why we treat Experience Cloud as a separate digital product, with its own UX, information architecture, navigation, design and permissions model. Salesforce data and processes sit underneath.
Self-service
Customer portal and self-service
Experience Cloud can let customers carry out tasks themselves that previously required contacting support.
Depending on the process, a user may have access to:
- their data and profile,
- documents and invoices,
- history and statuses,
- requests and account-related information.
One measurable result of well-designed self-service can be fewer simple requests reaching the support team.
There is one condition: the portal must meet users' real needs, rather than simply display data that was easy to expose from Salesforce.
Loyalty programme
Loyalty portal
In one of our projects, we modernized a loyalty portal based on Salesforce Experience Cloud.
The project included rebuilding the frontend, moving from Aura components to LWC, introducing a new design and creating a custom theme.
The portal gave users access to loyalty programme and self-service functions.
In solutions like this, it is particularly important that the interface meets the standards users know from other digital services.
A loyalty programme can have sound data and processes, but if the portal is hard to use, good adoption is unlikely.
Modernization
Modernizing an existing Experience Cloud portal
Not every project requires building a portal from scratch.
Often the bigger problem is an existing solution developed over many years: older Aura components, custom code, a design that needs rebuilding and a growing cost for every subsequent change.
We do not, however, begin with the assumption that all legacy code must be rewritten.
First, we check which elements still work well and can stay as they are, which need business changes, and which genuinely hinder development and should be rebuilt.
Modernization is a technical and business decision, not a project to rewrite as many components as possible.
Aura and LWC
Aura → LWC when there is a reason
Technology itself is not the goal.
Rewriting a component in LWC makes sense when the existing element needs further development or redesign, or when its technical condition raises the cost and risk of future changes.
If a component is stable and does not need work, keeping it may be more sensible.
In our modernization project, moving from Aura to LWC was part of a wider change: a new frontend, a new design and a custom theme.
Design
UX/UI and a custom theme
Velocity can handle the full UX/UI process for Experience Cloud: user journeys, information architecture, screen designs, responsive UI, design and a custom theme. We can also work from a design supplied by the client.
In self-service portals, UX has a direct business impact. If users cannot find the information they need on their own, they will still contact support - regardless of how many functions the portal technically offers.
Partners
Partner portal
Experience Cloud can also serve as a layer for partners, distributors and other business users.
In this case, the permissions model becomes particularly important.
One person may see data for the whole company, another only their own cases, and someone else may be allowed to approve certain operations.
That is why we design data access together with the process, rather than as a final configuration step.
Integrations
Experience Cloud in a wider ecosystem
A portal rarely uses Salesforce alone. Data may also come from ERP, an e-commerce system, billing, loyalty solutions and other business applications.
Experience Cloud does not have to own all that logic.
Before development, we determine which system is responsible for each piece of information and how the portal should access it.
Without these boundaries, the portal can quickly become another place holding its own version of the data.
How we work
How we run a project
-
01
Discovery
-
02
Architecture
We identify data sources, the permissions model, integrations and the division of responsibilities between systems.
-
03
UX/UI
We design the user experience and a custom visual layer.
-
04
Development
We build LWC, integrations and the required Experience Cloud elements. For an existing portal, we modernize the components that genuinely need changing.
-
05
Testing and UAT
We verify functions, roles, data visibility and real user scenarios.
-
06
Launch and stabilization
After launch, we support hypercare and can then take on maintenance and further development of the portal.
Fit
When Experience Cloud is not the right choice
If you need a public marketing site without login or a connection to Salesforce, simpler solutions exist.
If the portal does not use Salesforce data or processes at all, it is worth checking whether tying it to Experience Cloud provides real value.
If core CRM processes are inconsistent, data is incomplete and ownership is unclear, it is better to put the foundations in order first. A portal built on such a system would only expose those problems to external users.
Experience
Why Velocity
We combine Salesforce development with UX/UI and integrations.
We have experience modernizing live Experience Cloud systems (rebuilding Aura components in LWC) as well as delivering new implementations with a new design and custom visual theme.
We look beyond Salesforce configuration, considering the portal from the user's perspective and its future development cost.

When the problem lies elsewhere
Customer data flow
If the main challenge is the flow of customer data between CRM and the store rather than the portal layer itself, CRM integrations are a better starting point.
CRM integrations →Operational system data
If the portal needs to show data from an operational system - documents, settlements or fulfilment statuses - system integrations are the right direction.
System integrations →Magento technical condition
If you are also developing a Magento store and want to assess its technical condition, a free performance and security audit can be a starting point.
Questions
FAQ
To build portals and sites for customers, partners and other external users that use Salesforce data and processes.
Yes. This is one of its main use cases, especially when customers need access to data and processes already held in Salesforce.
Yes. Experience Cloud can successfully be used as a B2B loyalty programme portal.
No. The scope should follow the planned changes and the condition of existing components. Stable elements do not need rewriting solely because of the technology.
Yes. We can design the full experience and a custom theme, or work from a design supplied by the client.
Yes. Experience Cloud can combine data from several sources. It is important to define clearly which system owns each piece of information.
Yes. We can analyze the existing solution, take over development and modernize it in stages.
We can handle hypercare, subsequent changes and ongoing Experience Cloud maintenance.
