Marketplace model
Bringing multiple distributors’ offers together on a shared platform.
Marketplace · Distributor panel · Sales-point map
A platform bringing together agricultural distributors’ offers - with sellers’ own product ranges and prices, and product and sales-point selection on a map.
About the project
The project involved building a marketplace for a network of agricultural product distributors. Individual sellers had their own customers, sales points and offers, and prices for the same product could differ. We were responsible for a solution that let distributors manage their presence on the platform and gave customers a choice of products, prices and purchase locations. A map linked to sales points was an important part of the interface.
Scope of work
Bringing multiple distributors’ offers together on a shared platform.
Tools for managing each seller’s own product range, products and prices.
Managing the sales locations specified by individual distributors.
Presenting different prices and offers associated with distributors.
Connecting product browsing with sales-point selection on a map.
Accounting for each distributor’s own customers in the platform model.
Each distributor decided which products to offer on the platform.
Sellers set their own product prices.
Distributors specified the locations where they offered their products.
Distributors defined delivery methods and costs for selected delivery areas.
Customers could choose between offers with different prices, delivery times and delivery costs.
The purchase location formed part of browsing and selecting an offer.
The platform accounted for individual sellers’ commercial relationships with their customers.
Selected solutions
A product could be offered by several sellers, with different prices, delivery methods and transport costs. The platform presented both the product itself and the offer from a specific distributor. Customers selected products in the context of price and purchase location, while sellers shaped their own product ranges independently.
The sales point was an important part of the purchasing decision. The map connected offer browsing with choosing a location where a distributor operated. Distributors managed their own sales locations on the platform.
Distributors retained control over their product ranges, prices and sales points. They also had their own assigned customers. The implementation accounted for this independence while combining individual offers in a marketplace used by buyers. The scope covered both seller tools and the presentation of their offers to customers.
Results
The result was a marketplace where distributors managed their own product ranges, prices and sales locations. Customers could select product offers in relation to price and the location of a sales point on the map. The platform brought sellers’ offers together in a shared interface.
